You can change the programmable keys on your Yealink T54W or T57W yourself from a web browser in a few minutes. The same steps work for both models.

Before you start

You will need:

BLF (Busy Lamp Field) keys monitor a colleague's extension: the light shows whether they are free, ringing or on a call, and pressing the key calls or picks up that extension. Speed Dial keys simply dial a number (internal or external) with one press and do not show a status light.

Step 1: Find the phone's IP address

The phone's web page is reached by its IP address on your network. It looks like 192.168.1.45 and may change if the phone is unplugged, so check it each time.

T54W (physical buttons)

  1. With the phone idle, press the round OK button in the middle of the navigation keys.
  2. The Status screen opens. The IPv4 line shows the phone's IP address.
  3. Write it down, then press Back to return to the home screen.

T57W (touch screen)

  1. With the phone idle, tap Menu on the screen.
  2. Tap Status.
  3. The IPv4 line shows the phone's IP address. Write it down, then tap Back.

If you cannot see Menu on the T57W, swipe down from the top of the screen or press the Home button first.

Step 2: Log in to the phone's web interface

  1. On your computer, open a web browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox).
  2. In the address bar, type the IP address from Step 1, for example 192.168.1.45, and press Enter.
  3. If the browser shows a security warning such as "Your connection is not private", this is normal for a device on your local network. Click Advanced then Proceed (or Accept the risk and continue) to carry on.
  4. On the login page, enter the username user and the password user, then click Login.
  5. The phone's Status page opens. The configuration menu runs along the top of the page (older firmware) or down the left-hand side (newer firmware). Some menus are hidden on the user account; the DSSKey menu you need is always available.

If the page does not load at all, see the Tips and troubleshooting section at the end.

Step 3: Add or change a BLF key

  1. In the menu, click DSSKey (shown as Dsskey on newer firmware).
  2. Click Line Key. A table lists every programmable key on the phone, numbered Line Key 1, Line Key 2 and so on. Key 1 is the top key beside the screen; the numbers run down the left column first, then the right.
  3. Find the row for the key you want to change and set its fields:
FieldWhat to enter
TypeBLF
ValueThe colleague's extension number, for example 201
LabelThe name to show on the screen, for example Sarah (keep it short, about 10 characters)
LineLine 1 (leave as the default unless we have told you otherwise)
ExtensionLeave blank
  1. Repeat for any other keys you want to change.
  2. Click Confirm at the bottom of the page. The keys update on the phone straight away with no restart needed.

The new key's light will be green or off when the extension is free, flashing when it is ringing, and solid red when it is busy. To remove a key, set its Type to N/A and click Confirm.

Step 4: Add or change a Speed Dial key

  1. Go to DSSKey then Line Key, as in Step 3.
  2. In the row for the key you want, set:
FieldWhat to enter
TypeSpeed Dial
ValueThe number to dial, exactly as you would dial it from the handset, for example 0398765432 or an extension like 205
LabelThe name to show on the screen, for example Head Office
LineLine 1
  1. Click Confirm. The key is ready to use immediately.

Alternative: change a key on the handset itself

If you only need to change one or two keys, you can do it without a computer.

  1. Press and hold the key you want to change for about two seconds (on the T57W, touch and hold it on the screen).
  2. The key's settings open. Set Type to BLF or Speed Dial, enter the Value (extension or number) and the Label.
  3. Press Save (T54W) or tap the tick (T57W).
