Who should pick which
Pick Jet if
- You answer on a mobile. Jet's rate is the same to any answer point; Business 1300 charges double for mobiles (30c on Starter).
- You want the lowest access fee and no setup fee: $3 a month and $0 against $5 and an unstated setup charge.
- You take a lot of calls. Jet's $20 unlimited inbound plan removes the per-minute component.
- You want 1300 numbers, Cloud Mobile, a business phone system and call tracking on one Australian carrier account.
Pick Business 1300 if
- You want IVR, geographic routing and recording bundled into a $15 plan with $20 of calls included, and you answer on a landline or VoIP phone.
- You want per-second billing on every call.
- You want Business 1300's softphone PBX bundle (Business Complete) and a 1300 number on the one plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is Jet or Business 1300 cheaper for a 1300 number?
On the entry plans Jet is cheaper: $3 a month plus 3c a minute against $5 a month plus 15c (landline) or 30c (mobile). At 100 three-minute calls a month answered on a mobile that is about $12 at Jet and about $95 on Business 1300 Starter. Business 1300's Lite plan at $15 includes $20 of calls, which makes it about $55 for the same volume on a mobile. Jet's $20 unlimited plan caps the bill at any volume.
Does Business 1300 charge a setup fee?
The plan page does not state one. Business 1300's critical information summary lists a $19 setup fee on the Business Lite plan and $0 on Mid and Pro. Jet has no setup fee on any inbound plan.
What does Business 1300 include that Jet charges for?
From the Business Lite plan ($15 a month) Business 1300 includes IVR, geographic and state-based routing and call recording. At Jet those are add-ons: recording $10 a month per number (included on the $5 5×5 offer), IVR $25 a month per account, geographic or postcode routing $50 a month per account. Time-of-day and overflow routing are included at both.
Can I port my 1300 number from Business 1300 to Jet?
Yes. 1300 numbers are portable between Australian carriers. Jet ports numbers in free and sets up your routing before the port completes, so callers notice nothing. Check Business 1300's terms for any port-out charge on its side.
Does either provider lock me into a contract?
No. Business 1300 advertises no lock-in contracts and its CIS states a one-month minimum. Jet's Standard and Unlimited plans are month to month; the $3 and $5 offers have a three-month minimum, then month to month.
